Geography of Morocco

The ocean, sea, mountains, plains, and desert oasis, this is Morocco, which presents a complete destination and extraordinarily rich cultures, ancient civilizations and fabulous scenery. The Kingdom also offers the advantage of being easily accessible. Indeed, in the extreme northwest of the African continent, located between two seas the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean, Morocco is favored by its geographical position which gives him immense diversity from the south bank of the Mediterranean (540 km) located a few kilometers of Europe (- 15 km) to the borders of the Sahara, with a total area of 710,850 km The foothills of the Rif spread over a wide arc around the north, from the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Mediterranean side of the mountain heading towards a rocky coast while the southern Rif tends towards low hills prérifaines. In the center hoist the mountains of the Atlas: Middle Atlas, High Atlas and Anti-Atlas in a South-West / North-East including summits, including a dozen peaking at around 4,000 m including the Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa with 4167 m high. This huge mountain is traversed by immense plateaus, plains and forests, providing a mosaic of landscapes. South of the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas extends the pre-desert, which is characterized by the presence of sporadic oases and fertile valleys rife with palm trees and rivers which stretch down from the mountains of Atlas. The coasts of the Atlantic for their part mitigate the effects of desert that stretches to the Mauritanian border.

Climate of Morocco

Morocco has great varieties of climate following the terrain of each region and according to the seasons, times of day or night. Spring is definitely the season where Morocco is the most resplendent, in late January. In the Sahara, the temperature rises gradually from March. The months of June, July and August have the greatest heat that can enable more adventurous to enjoy nights under the stars. For cons, the best times to visit the dunes and explore the rocky stretches are the months of October, November and December. Contrary to popular belief, the Moroccan coasts have mostly a temperate climate all year round, Agadir known, for example a temperature of the sweetest and equal throughout the year. The interior of the country is undergoing great changes in temperature very hot summer, cold winter, the differences are greatest between day and night. During the winter, snow covers the mountains and can persist at high altitude until the end of spring.
